Being a newborn photographer is the best job ever—but it gets really busy! Probably explains why I’m a bit behind on my blog posts. Don’t worry though—I’m determined to get all caught up so you don’t miss any of these adorable baby pictures. To start off, here is a newborn photography session I did back in September of last year.

This baby was the most amazing model! She was a great little sleeper, which is perfect for newborn photos, and slept soundly through the entire session. I pride myself on calm, relaxing, stress-free sessions, and clearly, it works! This sweetie pie was certainly very content and happy during our time together.

In addition to being such a good sleeper, she was also gorgeous! Just look at that perfect, flawless skin. Even got a sleepy little smile out of her.

Love the colors we decided on for these beautiful baby pictures! That rich purple and dusky pink ended up being so pretty, especially balanced with the neutral shades we used in our other photos. Gives a bit of a royal feel to our images of this little princess!

Although colors are important, I also enjoy experimenting with texture in my work as a newborn photographer. Soft velvets, fluffy bonnets, lace and flowers–a baby girl photo session is the perfect place to play around with some amazing texture combinations.

Of course, a touch of whimsy never goes amiss either. I have all kinds of adorable props in my Maryland studio, including the sweetest teddy bears, just the right size for newborn hands.
